Really wonderful outcome today. Our clients were approved for a 309 visa. What is remarkable about this case is that our clients were found to be in a de-facto relationship despite not having formally lived together. We presented the strong points of the couple’s situation using concise submissions that directly honed in on relevant case law and legislative interpretation. We hit a roadblock with the application when the Australian High Commission rejected the sponsor’s police clearances. In this case, the embassy was in the wrong and after liaising with the Iranian embassy in Australia we were able to have the application finalised in a short-time.

Total processing time was roughly 5 months and now our clients can finally reunite in Australia after being separated by COVID. Wishing them the best moving forward and they were absolutely lovely to work with. The application timeline was as follows: 

• Applicant lodged in mid-July 2021. 
• Request for information (character & name change evidence) in late August 2021. 
• Repeat incorrect requests for further character documents in December 2021 and January 2022. 
• After our firm response, the visa was then granted in January 2022.
